An architecture and interiors studio working on houses, small civic spaces, and the occasional shop. We design slowly and build to last.

Vane & Co is run by two architects who do the drawing as well as the talking. We keep the practice small so that the people you meet at the first sketch are the same people on site at the end. The work tends toward warm, durable materials and rooms that earn their keep — projects that get better as they are lived in rather than worse. We take on a handful of jobs a year, work closely with builders we trust, and would rather do a small thing properly than a large thing in a hurry.

A garden-facing extension to a Victorian terrace, brought up to a low-energy standard without losing the bones of the house. A pair of timber holiday cabins set into a hillside, off-grid and quiet. A neighbourhood library fit-out that turned a tired hall into somewhere people actually want to sit. A small bakery, gutted and rebuilt in three weeks between leases. Each project starts the same way — a long walk through the existing space, a lot of measuring, and an honest conversation about budget — and ends with drawings a builder can price without guessing. We stay involved through construction, because the decisions that matter most are usually made on site, with sawdust in the air, not in a meeting months earlier.
Tell us about the place and roughly what you are hoping to do — we reply to every enquiry, and a first conversation is free.
Thank you
We read every note and usually reply within two working days. In the meantime, the studio Instagram is the best place to see what is on the bench.
