A molten gather of glass glowing on the end of a blowpipe

Hand-blown glass studio

The studio bench with pipes, jacks, and a glowing furnace behind

About

I blow glass the slow way, gathering from a small furnace I keep running through the colder half of the year and working each piece by hand at the bench until it settles into a shape worth keeping. The colours come from oxides I mix in modest batches, so a run of tumblers is never quite uniform — a little more sea in one, a little more smoke in the next. Most of what survives the annealer is sold straight from the studio, and I take a handful of commissions a year for people who want something made to live with rather than look at.
